TOP 10 KID- LOVING BEAN RECIPES

We know dinner time in most families is anything but simple... You may even end up cooking separate meals for the little ones. Kids can be fussy and making something which gets the approval of everyone can be TRICKY. But with some kid-loving bean recipes + some useful nuggets on why you should be starting them young should hopefully get them on board!

START THEM YOUNG!

Beans are FULL of protein + fibre. From two years old, it’s important to start slowly adding in more fibre-rich foods to support their gut microbiome, and to help their gut bacteria to make special metabolites called short-chain fatty acids which are great for their health.

Between 2 and 5 years old is a KEY window to support the development of your child’s gut microbiome, before it settles into a more stable ‘adult-like’ microbiome - the more gut-friendly foods (BEANS) we feed to it sooner, the HEALTHIER it will be throughout our life.

But it's also good to be mindful about too much fibre for children under 2 years old as fibre-containing foods can be very filling, meaning that they might not be getting enough of other nutrients and energy that they need.
