QUEEN BEANS

Where They Come From

Each bean variety is suited to different growing conditions, so we always source from the climates where they truly thrive. Our Queen Chickpeas are grown in Mexico, where the soils and sunshine give them their generous size and unbeatable flavour. Harvests take place in February/March and October, so we’re always working with the freshest beans available!

QUEEN BEANS

How we cook them

Once they reach our factories in Spain, they get poured into glass jars with just water + a pinch of salt. They are then cooked in the jars in a giant pressure cooker, and cooked low + slow. This method locks in flavour, keeps the skins intact, and gives you a bean that’s creamy, tender, and perfect to eat STRAIGHT FROM THE JAR. It also gives you that luscious, creamy “bean stock” - aka, the liquid in the jar. We season our beans throughout the cooking process like proper chefs do!

Bog standard supermarket beans are heated up quickly, to a SUPER high temp, losing the banging beany flavour along the way.

We NEVER add anything artificial. No preservatives, no weird sulphites, just what you’d use at home: beans, water + salt.

Are they good for you?

OF COURSE THEY ARE! Chickpeas are one of the most nutrient-dense beans out there – and ours are no exception.

They are have one of the highest fibre contents of any bean - meaning they are digested slowly in the body, keeping you fuller, more energised + HAPPIER for longer! They are also excellent for gut health, satiety, and blood sugar balance (particularly helpful for those managing diabetes or insulin sensitivity)

Per 100g, Queen Chickpeas offer around:

Protein: ~7–8g | Fibre: ~6–7g Calories: ~120 kcal

HOW TO USE THEM – BEANSPO!

We urge you to try them first as-is: simply dressed with a bit of extra virgin olive oil, lemon zest, and a just a pinch of salt to appreciate their true glory.

But their CREAMINESS is what makes them so loved. Usually the first bean people try from us, here are some bangin recipe suggestions to get you going!
