STRUGGLING TO OPEN A JAR?

Our jars are sealed tight for a good reason! We hermetically seal our jars to keep the beans safe inside. BUT it also means sometimes the lid can play hard to get. If you're struggling to open the jar - no stress! Here are a few handy tricks to get you eating beans from the jar ASAP.

1. PICK THE LOCK

The simplest tip: you’ve got to break the seal before the lid will budge. Just insert the tip of a teaspoon under the lip of the jar + gently lever. You’ll hear a little pop and BOOM - the jar will open easily.

*Chefs hack! As demonstrated here by Ben Lippett.

2. GIVE IT A BASH

This is the method we swear by when all else fails. Tap the lid firmly around its edge on a hard surface (not the glass, just the lid!). You should hear the seal pop, then winner winner, beans for dinner!

Nervous about your worktop? Lay a tea towel underneath or over the jar for extra protection.

3. GIVE IT A SQUEEZE

Sounds odd, but trust us. Hold the jar firmly + squeeze both sides of the lid at once. That tiny bit of pressure from each side, can compromise the air lock, letting the seal break so the lid twists right off.

4. GET IN TOUCH

Still stuck? Don’t panic! If you have a jar opener, this will work perfectly. If not, we’ve got our own jar opener we can send your way. It doesn't work like a bottle opener, despite looking like one! Instead, you place the sharper-looking point under the lip of the lid, release the seal, and you’re in. Easy. Just let us know your address + we’ll pop one in the post.
