BEANS WILL MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE

We are on a mission to make you OBSESSED with beans by giving you THE BEST OF BEANS.

Why?

Founder Amelia started this journey having spent 6 years working in the food sustainability space, trying to fix a food system that was broken. Amelia learned about more than just the need to reduce meat: we need healthier soils and a more resilient food system for a more secure future. But Amelia learnt that our UK soils are degrading faster than a stale biscuit, and soon we wouldn't be able to grow any food - Yikes! So Amelia started looking for answers. And that answer was BEANS. Yup, beans are the superheroes of the food world. They're natural nitrogen fixers, greenhouse gas reducers, and they pack a punch of health benefits. The only problem? They were seriously uncool. But we're here to change that, one bean at a time. Trust us, if we all start producing and consuming more beans, the world WILL BE a better, greener, sexier place.

How will beans save the world?

1.A Natural Source of Protein

Beans are THE original plant-protein, so we don't need to rely on animal based products. We all need to help preserve the environment as best we can and as we're moving towards a more plant-based led diet, we need to get our protein from somewhere! The best solution? Nutritious, delicious BEANS.

2.Food Security

In the UK we import a whopping 46% of our food which means so much of what we eat doesn't come from the UK. But say, for example, the UK suddenly had to shut all of its borders and we had to survive from the UK alone, using our fields and farming lands, guess what we would have to plant more of? BEANS + LEGUMES. It's the most efficient use of the land we have as well as being incredible for our health: they're packed with fibre, vitamins and can NOURISH our growing population.

3.Replenish our Soils

Beans + legumes have long been recognised and values as "soil building" crops. Beans are nitrate fixers meaning they take nitrate from the air and fix it into the soil. They are also NATURAL fertilisers, so there is no need for nasty chemical fertilisers, And secondly, beans are cover crops so they protect the soil from erosion.

B Corp - using business as a force for good.
We're THRILLED to say we have achieved our B-Corp Certification (BIG WHOOP!!). Sustainability is at the core of our business model and we knew that we wanted to make all of our decisions with people and planet at the forefront of our minds. That's why we made the decision to commit to B Corp certification. This certification shows that a business has a triple positive impact (3Ps) on people, the planet and profit. We went through a year-long process of answering questions about our supply base, our employee benefits, our business model and many more.

How are we doing our bit?
